Jeffery Siddall, LPC (He, Him, His)
Licensed Professional Counselor
National Certified Counselor

About Me

I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Illinois. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler University in Chicago in 2017.

Counseling Approach

I offer a skills-based, short-term, solution-focused approach to counseling. My work is grounded in evidence-based modalities, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helping clients identify and change negative thought patterns that influence behavior.

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT): Teaching skills like emotion regulation and mindfulness, especially for those dealing with intense emotions.

  • Exposure Response Prevention (ERP): A specialized technique for managing Obsessive Compulsive Behaviors (OCD), where clients gradually face fears in a controlled and safe manner.

  • Gottman Techniques for Couples Counseling: Supporting couples in improving communication, emotional connection, intimacy, and resolving conflicts.

  • Adlerian Therapy: Focusing on individuals’ goals and how their perceptions influence their life choices.

These approaches empower clients to recognize and challenge unhealthy thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I collaborate with clients to set specific goals and provide homework assignments to promote lasting change and achieve a healthier, more satisfying life.

Areas of Specialization

I work with couples, children, teens, young adults, and adults who are experiencing challenges such as:

  • Relationship stress, communication skill building using the Gottman model.

  • Obsessive Compulsive Behaviors (OCD): Offering structured support through Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) to reduce obsessive thoughts and compulsions.

  • Anxiety and Depression: Providing coping strategies for managing symptoms and improving emotional well-being.

  • Addictions: Helping individuals understand the root causes of their addiction and offering tools for recovery.

  • Life Transitions: Assisting clients in navigating significant changes such as career shifts, relationship changes, or major life decisions.

I am passionate about helping couples explore and improve areas such as communication, parenting, intimacy, and sexuality using Gottman-informed techniques. My approach helps couples foster deeper connections and resolve conflicts effectively.

LGBTQ+ Affirmation and Diverse Clientele

I am enthusiastic about working with diverse populations and have a particular commitment to affirming and supporting LGBTQ+ individuals. I strive to create a welcoming and safe space for all clients, where they can move steadily towards their life goals, make positive changes, and improve their mental health and overall wellness.

Prior Professional Experience

Before becoming a counselor, I had a successful first career in education. I obtained my doctorate and I worked as a special education and traditional elementary teacher, a reading specialist, and a literacy staff developer. I also spent 18 years in higher education as a college professor, teaching both developmental and traditional English courses.
